The Nativity

Birth of Jesus in Bethlehem

Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea during the reign of King Herod the Great. According to the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, his mother Mary conceived through the Holy Spirit. He was born in humble circumstances — laid in a manger — yet his birth was heralded by angels and a guiding star that drew Magi from the East.

The Hidden Years

Childhood & early life in Nazareth

After returning from Egypt, Jesus grew up in Nazareth, a small village in Galilee. He was raised in the Jewish faith by Mary and Joseph, a carpenter. At age twelve he was found in the Temple in Jerusalem, astonishing teachers with his understanding.

The Baptism

Baptized by John in the Jordan River

Jesus was baptized by his cousin John the Baptist in the Jordan River, marking the public beginning of his ministry. The heavens opened, the Spirit of God descended like a dove, and a voice declared: 'This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.'

The Ministry

Three years of teaching, miracles, and parables

For approximately three years, Jesus traveled throughout Galilee, Samaria, and Judea, preaching the coming of the Kingdom of God. He called twelve apostles, performed miracles of healing, and taught through parables. His Sermon on the Mount is considered the core of Christian ethical teaching.

The Transfiguration

Jesus revealed in divine glory on the mountain

On a high mountain, Jesus's appearance was transformed before Peter, James, and John. His face shone like the sun and his clothes became dazzling white. Moses and Elijah appeared alongside him, and a voice from a cloud declared his divine sonship.

The Triumphal Entry

Jesus enters Jerusalem on Palm Sunday

Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, greeted by crowds waving palm branches and shouting 'Hosanna!' This fulfilled Zechariah's prophecy and marked the beginning of his final week — a week that would change the course of human history.

The Last Supper

The final Passover meal with the twelve apostles

On the night before his crucifixion, Jesus shared a final Passover meal with his disciples. He washed their feet, broke bread, and shared wine — instituting the sacrament of Communion. He revealed that one among them would betray him.

The Crucifixion

The sacrifice on Calvary

After his arrest, trial, and scourging, Jesus was crucified at Golgotha (Calvary) outside Jerusalem. He was nailed to a cross between two criminals. Darkness covered the land for three hours. Jesus spoke seven final words from the cross before he died.

The Resurrection

He is risen — the central event of Christianity

On the third day after his crucifixion, Jesus rose from the dead. Women who came to anoint his body found the tomb empty. An angel announced, 'He is not here; he has risen.' Over the next forty days, Jesus appeared to his disciples and over 500 witnesses.

The Ascension

Jesus ascends to heaven from the Mount of Olives

Forty days after the resurrection, Jesus ascended into heaven from the Mount of Olives in the presence of his apostles. He commissioned them to be his witnesses 'to the ends of the earth' and promised to return.
